Personalized Health Assessment and Treatment Plan
Every patient’s health concerns and response to treatment are unique. Your first visit will include an in-depth health assessment and consultation, as our goal is to create a treatment plan that is specifically customized to you.
During the consultation, the conversation will include questions about symptoms, general condition, and previous medical history. You will also have the opportunity to express specific concerns and what you’d like to get out of acupuncture treatments.
Acupuncture
Acupuncturists do their best to take care of various illnesses and conditions through a safe and natural approach. Acupuncture is a sophisticated branch of ancient Oriental Medicine.
When the body is in good health, energy flow is balanced and consistent. When the body's energy flow is disrupted by factors such as injuries, stress, poor diet, medication, and incorrect posture, it results in pain, debilitating disorders and illnesses.
Acupuncture restores the body's natural energy flow. With acupuncture needles, the acupuncturist stimulates certain points (acu-point) along the course of the meridian. Such stimulation helps to restore the normal balance and flow of chi so that organs and bodily systems can work together in harmony as intended.
Herbal Therapy
In the course of your treatment, Chinese herbal remedies may be prescribed. They may be dispensed as raw herbs or in pills, capsules, granules or tinctures which make them easier to ingest.
Most herbal formulas can treat a wide variety of symptoms while stimulating the body’s natural healing process. Herbs are a powerful way to nourish the body with very few side effects.
Chinese herbal medicine has been practiced safely and effectively for centuries and has the greatest potential for beneficial results when prescribed by a professional acupuncturist.
How effective the treatment depends on the severity and nature of the condition being treated.
Cupping
Cupping is also an ancient Chinese technique used to tune up the body. It is a practice in which a cup is applied to the skin. The pressure in the cup is reduced, creating a suction on the skin. It is used to expel stagnation and to promote the removal of toxins deep within the body. The suction stimulates blood and chi (qi) circulation.
Cupping is commonly associated with its effectiveness in relieving muscle and joint pain and stiffness. It also has a myriad of health benefits including, but not limited to, stimulating the body and its organs, relieving migraines and tension, improving digestion, and boosting the immune system.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicinal technique which utilizes the burning of mugwort to stimulate the flow of chi (qi). It may be used to improve blood circulation and strengthen the immune system.
On specific meridian points, moxibustion expels the cold and warms the meridians. It is very effective for certain symptoms, such as cold hands, cold feet and/or cold tummy, menstrual cramps, infertility, cold/influenza, uterine bleeding, etc.
